Curriculum

St. Maria Goreti Catholic School is fully accredited through the Texas Catholic Conference of Bishops Education Department. We provide an educational environment with a program of study built around national standards, TCCBED Catholic School requirements, and reading and writing initiatives enhanced by teacher creativity and instructional technology. SMGCS also offers programs of enrichment and focuses on the religious aspect of Christian development through Catholicism's teachings.

The staff strives to meet the students' needs and helps each child develop all his/her God-given talents within the framework of a respectful and responsible school community.

We call our unique combination of academics and Catholic faith formation “The Goretti Effect.” Learn how The Goretti Effect can help your child achieve academic success.

Our primary program focuses on building educational formation for children to succeed in school and life by providing a nurturing and stimulating environment to support the development of each child as an individual.
Primary students are surrounded by encouraging faculty, many of whom have sent their own children here and are SMGCS graduates themselves. Together with parents, teachers help students develop organizational skills and independence in work. Primary students participate in daily prayer and are given opportunities to lead at Mass.

Curriculum for students in grades 1 - 3 include:

  • Religion
  • Catechesis of the Good Shepherd Level II

4th-5th Grade#

The intermediate team of teachers at St. Maria Goretti Catholic School are highly skilled and focused on their task of helping students grow in confidence, independence, and preparedness. Through their guidance, students learn to organize their notes, take ownership of their grades, and start preparing for their future. They are taught to understand the importance of securing their learning, enabling them to explore, investigate, and draw conclusions more confidently.

6th-8th Grade#

Junior high students working in language arts class

In junior high, our students begin a period of discovery. They try new things and work to gain independence. Courses are designed to prepare our students for the rigor they will encounter in a college preparatory school. Our goal is to ensure that all of our graduates enter high school ready to succeed. Our faculty promotes respect for self, service to others, and a deeper understanding of our Faith. As the oldest students at SMG, they are role models for their younger peers and learn to hold themselves to a higher standard. Junior High students can participate in different electives that help them form inside the classroom, such as Performing Arts and Robotics. All Junior High students participate in the Service Project Program.

Junior high students lead campus faith activities, such as weekly Mass, a leadership retreat, daily prayers, and liturgical activities like the May Crowning Ceremony.

We prepare Junior High students for high school with academic opportunities, such as a rigorous math program and an emphasis on research and writing in all subject areas.
