Academic Excellence#
Our first responsibility is our students' academic growth. Without a solid academic foundation, our students wouldn't be prepared for the next important steps in their lives. We instill in our students a lifelong academic discipline that leads our alumni to great things.
Spiritual Formation#
An education at Saint Maria Goretti goes well beyond the classroom. We also lay the foundations for a rich and rewarding spiritual life for each and every student.
Compassionate Service#
Saint Maria Goretti graduates are active, charitable members of their community. Through prayer, volunteer projects, and plentiful service opportunities, our students learn that being a well-rounded student goes well beyond excelling in the classroom.
Saint Maria Goretti prepares students for high school and college by encouraging them to serve their community in any way possible.
Our Mission#
Saint Maria Goretti Catholic School is a living testament to our Lord's work in his youngest disciples, exemplified by academic excellence, spiritual formation, and compassionate service to others.
Our History#
Saint Maria Goretti Catholic School was founded by the Sisters of St. Mary of Namur in 1954 with the help of Saint Maria Goretti Catholic Church. The original school opened with one main hallway, nine classrooms, a kitchen, a cafeteria, a school office, and a convent.
By the fall of 1956, the school had grown to include 7th and 8th grade. Additional classrooms were added to the school in the 1980s. In 1988, a second section of first grade was added, and by the fall of 1996, the school had two sections of each grade.
The first lay principal was hired for the 1990-1991 school year. The parish developed a plan to expand the education building to meet the needs of the parish and the school. New classrooms were added in the fall of 1996, followed by a gymnasium in 1997.
The school has spent time and energy maintaining a state-of-the-art computer lab. Students and teachers in every classroom can access iPads and laptops to supplement their lessons.
In the past few years, we have created an outdoor learning center and garden and built and maintained a chicken coop for students to learn about nurturing farm animals. In 2021, we opened a Level I Catechesis of the Good Shepherd Atrium for students in PreK-1st grade to enjoy hands-on learning about the Catholic faith. In 2024, we added a Level II Atrium for 2nd-3rd grade students.
