2025-2026 Summer Reading

Summer is the perfect time to keep young minds active and growing through reading. Regular reading over the break helps prevent the “summer slide,” strengthens vocabulary, and builds comprehension skills that set students up for success in the fall. Just 15–20 minutes a day can make a meaningful difference. Encourage your child to choose books they enjoy—whether it’s novels, graphic stories, magazines, or nonfiction—so reading feels like a reward, not a chore. Trips to the library, setting family reading time, and talking about what they’re reading can all help foster a lifelong love of books.

In addition to independent reading, all students are expected to complete their assigned summer reading. Students should read their grade-level book(s) and complete reading verification form. This form will be due at the beginning of the school year and will count as an early grade in English/Language Arts. Staying consistent with both reading and the assignment will help students start the year confident and prepared.
